The British formations King Salami & The Cumberland 3 and MFC Chicken, energetic live bands, are the bet of the International Big Bang Vintage Festival www.bigbangvintagefestival.com in its fifth edition, which is celebrated in the San Telmo park, in Las Palmas of Gran Canaria from October 6 to 12, 2022.

An international, multidisciplinary, family-oriented and sustainable event, organized by La Brújula, a guide for Leisure and Culture.

In this fifth edition, the Big Bang Vintage Festival “goes back to normal” after the complex situation generated by the pandemic, according to Javier Viera, co-director of the event with Berta Hidalgo. It is also the return of the festival to the San Telmo park, an urban space where it found accommodation after the first two editions held in Pueblo Canario.

Last year 2021, the Big Bang Vintage Festival unfolded its program in different spaces of the capital of Gran Canaria, between the Miller building, The Paper Club room and Alameda de Colón. “It supposes an effort of organization and production”, highlights Javier Viera about the artistic and content proposal that the local and foreign public will find next October. And it is that as it is well highlighted from the organization, “the Big Bang Festival is an eclectic festival that encompasses all the music and culture that was generated around it between the 40s and 60s of the last century, the birth of the fan phenomenon, a window to rock and roll, rockabilly, blues, country, rhythm & blues or swing”.

In short, a family-oriented event with an international projection that has positioned itself as one of the flagship dates in the calendar of festivals held in Gran Canaria in the rest of the Archipelago.

The fifth edition of the International Big Bang Vintage Festival begins at the Miller Building with The Rodríguez Sisters, a musical cabaret group from Barcelona. It is the starting point for a wide and eclectic program in which there will be concerts by international, national and Canarian artists, soul and swing dance workshops, comics and tattoos, among other activities, as well as a market area with about 40 stands that are set up in the San Telmo’s park.

A program that highlights that the original culture in the decades that the Big Bang Vintage Festival focuses on led almost all the arts to develop more quickly worldwide.

In the presence of the British bands King Salami & The Cumberland 3, and MFC Chicken, for whom the Big Bang Vintage Festival reserves the stage in San Telmo Park, on Friday, October 7, starting at 8:00 p.m., with the contest In addition to the group from Lanzarote Inadaptados, the session of the journalist from La Sexta Iñaki López (record label Hot45 Records) and the burlesque show of the artist from Gran Canaria Evita de Vil, the festival completes its artistic poster with the Madrilenian Jaleo; Bilbao’s Micky & the Buzz, and Ghost Number; the show from Tenerife Elvis Back to Building; and Swinging Cats Club Band, from Albacete.

Added to them are the selectors Vamp, Los DJs del Pantano and Wahteque Selector, in addition to the aforementioned Iñaki López; and the Boy de Vil burlesque show.

The art and image of the Tenerife artist Nano Barbero is the mark of the fifth installment of the Big Bang Vintage Festival. A creator who has a long history spanning decades as a designer of posters, logos and merchandising for musicians, stores and festivals from different parts of the world, and is currently recognized as one of the best illustrators in his field. Nano Barbero himself will give a basic workshop on comics and traditional illustration by Nano Barbero, on Saturday, October 8, in the San Telmo park.

“There is no festival of the Big Bang Vintage spectrum, being one of the strengths and opportunities that we have and take advantage of to publicize and project the image of Gran Canaria, since all the followers of this type of music travel to different destinations to meet with events of this type”, points out Javier Viera.

Already in the 2019 edition “we received an audience that came from France, Italy, England, from all the Islands and from the national territory”, says the co-director regarding the impact of the event and projection of the image of Gran Canaria as a destination.
