The importance of using clean points

The importance of using clean points

One of the actions undertaken by the Cabildo de Gran Canaria has been the transformation of the old landfills into Ecoparks, to convert those spaces where waste was discarded, without prior treatment, into modern Environmental Complexes, which process and value it, reducing as possible the rejection that will finally go to landfill. This action is allowing waste to be transformed into materials suitable for reuse or recycling, incorporating them into the production cycle as new resources.

On our island there is a network of infrastructures deployed dedicated to the complex task of selecting, managing and recycling waste. The proper environmental sustainability of the island depends on its proper functioning.

On its page you will be able to find out the details of the various facilities and access additional information on the processes that are carried out in the mobile clean points, Ecoparks, clean points and transfer plants.

Collection points are adequately equipped facilities where, previously selected by citizens, household waste that cannot be deposited in containers on public roads due to its volume or toxicity is received for subsequent reuse, recycling or recovery.

Clean points:

  • EL SEBADAL (LAS PALMAS DE GRAN CANARIA)
  • EL BATÁN (LAS PALMAS DE GRAN CANARIA)
  • LAS RUBIESAS (TELDE)
  • VECINDARIO (SANTA LUCÍA DE TIRAJANA)
  • MASPALOMAS (SAN BARTOLOMÉ DE TIRAJANA)
  • LA ALDEA DE SAN NICOLÁS
  • LLANO ALEGRE (SANTA MARÍA DE GUÍA)
  • CARDONES (ARUCAS)

Transfer Plants:

The Transfer Plants are facilities in which, as an intermediate phase to the treatment, the waste from municipal collection is compacted, achieving the reduction of its volume for a later more effective transfer to the Ecoparks.

  • LA ALDEA DE SAN NICOLÁS
  • LLANO ALEGRE (SANTA MARÍA DE GUÍA)

Eco-parks:

They are a set of facilities in which domestic, commercial and industrial waste is unloaded destined, depending on its nature, for preparation for subsequent transport to another place, recovery, treatment or disposal on site, as well as, where appropriate, the temporary storage prior to recovery, treatment or disposal operations elsewhere.

Mobile collection points: easier and closer to home

If you cannot go to the nearest Clean Point, the Cabildo de Gran Canaria has a service of mobile clean points that travel through the different municipalities of the island. It is a mobile container with different compartments, in which you can deposit your small electrical appliances, batteries, fluorescent lights, clothing and footwear, used cooking oil, etc.
