PIEDRAVIVA, a trip to the soul of every sense. A new project of D. Juan León which puts the canary folklore and electronic music together

D. Juan León meets the voice of

Carmen Rodríguez and timple playing of Iván Hernández, Vicente Ferrera took care of the sound engineering of this album.

The project, which is named like this new album, keeps the path of some edited albums before, in this work you will find some adaptations of famous songs of our folklore.

Tango herreño, Aires de Lima, Conde de Cabra, Mazurca herreña, Santo Domingo de Lanzarote, Arrorró Majorero, etc…some of them has been modified with new lyrics and some new vocal harmonies, new original songs with folkloric elements. These new lyrics go deep in a new vision of our culture and traditions. Mariante talks about our fishing of the moray eel, giving importance to the figure of the mariantes (farmers wich used to go fishing moray eel from the mountain to the sea), subterfuge and corruption practises around urbanism in Fuerteventura, canary popular tales like Guayota in El Maligno, etc…

The also musicalize some poems from the great poet Pedro García Cabrera: Líquenes, Las dos orillas, Caballito de mar…

It’s a luxury having this great canary composer among us, we must follow him, support him and share his work. For us this work gives us a new reading of our history and to adapt it to our times, this autor will approach our folklore to the younger generations.

Thanks Juan Leon for giving us this amazing album…
